Contract Value £1.1m
This 4750sq/ft contemporary house situated on a sloping site with views overlooking south west to the valley of the River Bollin. The form is split into two parts: a lower, robust and heavy base forming a datum that cantilevers over the sloping site, constructed from handmade long format bricks; and an upper part (containing the five en-suite bedrooms), which is a simple extruded rendered box.
The upper box extends beyond the base via small cantilevers to emphasise the horizontal expression and help layer the building as the base descends down the sloping site. The formal living and dining spaces are contemporary and open plan, while the family living space and kitchen/diner extend with open views to the garden. The landscape scheme provides a terrace that extends the living space to the outside and emphasises the horizontal, layered expression.

This modern day stately home is possibly one of the most luxurious private residents in the North West. Set in manicured ground and at 17,000 sq/ft, this estate is truly magnificent, and a pleasure to have been apart of.
The building’s form is created by the intersection of two volumes, with the living areas placed on the ground floor to allow for maximum privacy and to provide clear
views and direct access into the garden. The building is anchored to its setting
by an axial wall; dividing the pedestrian and vehicular entrances. Key to the building is the relationship of the inside to the external garden and by additional screening to the site boundary, the front south facing garden has become a usable private family space.
